Where to Get a Marriage License in Palm Coast

Palm Coast is the largest city in Flagler County. The Flagler County Clerk of Court processes marriage license applications at the courthouse in Bunnell, the county seat. Call (386) 313-4400 for office hours and directions.

Both parties must appear together in person. Valid photo ID is required. The clerk takes driver licenses, passports, military IDs, state ID cards, alien registration cards, and naturalization certificates. U.S. citizens also need a Social Security number. If either person was married before, bring the date the last marriage ended.

Walk-ins are welcome during regular hours. You can also make an appointment ahead of time. The clerk website has a pre-application form. Filling it out before your visit means less time at the counter. Bunnell is a short drive from Palm Coast, about 10 minutes west on State Road 100.

Flagler County is one of the smaller counties in Florida by population, so the clerk office is generally not as busy as those in larger metro areas. Most applicants are in and out within 30 to 45 minutes.

Palm Coast Marriage License Fees

A marriage license costs $86. The fee drops to $61 with a premarital course. Under Florida Statute 741.0305, the course must be completed within a year of applying and come from an approved provider. The course also waives the three-day waiting period for Florida residents.

Clerk ceremonies are $30. Payment options include cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. Personal checks are not accepted. A duplicate license is $30. Amendments require a court order plus $30.

Certified copies of a marriage record cost $9 for the first and $7 for each extra. The clerk charges $2 per year searched when you do not know the marriage date. Order copies online, in person, or by mail.

Records not showing up online may need a phone call or office visit. Contact (386) 313-4400 for help. Records from before June 6, 1927 exist only at the county level.

The Florida Department of Health stores state marriage records from 1927 onward. The state charges $5 for a search and one certified copy, plus $4 for extras. VitalChek is another route at $15 plus a $7 processing fee. For Palm Coast marriages, the Flagler County Clerk is usually quicker.

Marriage License Steps for Palm Coast

Here is the process:

Under Florida Statute 741.07, ordained ministers, judges, clerks of court, deputy clerks, and Florida notaries public can perform ceremonies. Witnesses are not legally required but recommended. The officiant signs the license and returns it to the clerk within 10 days. The clerk records it and sends data to the state Bureau of Vital Statistics. Full processing takes about 60 days.

Get certified copies three ways. Online through the Flagler County Clerk website is fastest. Pay by credit card and copies ship to your address. In person at the Bunnell courthouse also works. Mail requests need a cashier's check or money order payable to the Clerk of Court.

Flagler County marriage records are public under Florida Statutes Chapter 119. Anyone can search or request copies. Social Security numbers and certain personal details get redacted. If you qualify for confidential filing, ask about the form under Section 119.071.
