How to Get a Marriage License Near Wright

Wright is a census-designated place in Okaloosa County. There is no separate marriage license office in Wright. The Okaloosa County Clerk of Court handles all applications at the courthouse in Crestview, the county seat. Call (850) 651-7200 for office hours.

Both parties must show up together with valid photo ID. Accepted IDs include driver licenses, passports, military IDs, state ID cards, alien registration cards, and naturalization certificates. U.S. citizens need a Social Security number. If either person was married before, bring the end date of the prior marriage.

Walk-ins are accepted. Appointments are also available. The clerk has a pre-application form online. Fill it out before going to the courthouse so the process moves quicker. Wright is near Fort Walton Beach, and the drive to the Crestview courthouse takes about 25 to 30 minutes north on Highway 85.

Wright sits close to Eglin Air Force Base. Many residents here are military families. Active duty military ID is accepted for the marriage license application, and military members who are domiciled outside Florida are treated as out-of-state applicants for the waiting period.

Marriage License Steps for Wright Residents

Here is what to do:

  • Complete the pre-application on the Okaloosa County clerk website
  • Both people go to the Crestview courthouse with valid photo ID
  • Provide Social Security numbers (U.S. citizens)
  • Pay $86 (or $61 with premarital course proof)
  • Wait three days if you are a Florida resident without the course
  • Use the license within 60 days anywhere in Florida

Only Florida residents face the three-day wait. Out-of-state couples and military domiciled elsewhere skip it. The premarital course eliminates the wait for everyone. The provider must be state-registered.

Under Florida Statute 741.07, ceremonies can be performed by ordained ministers, judges, clerks of court, deputy clerks, or Florida notaries public. Witnesses are not legally required, but having one or two is wise. The officiant signs the license and returns it to the clerk within 10 days. The clerk records it and sends data to the Bureau of Vital Statistics. Processing takes about 60 days.

Getting Certified Copies Near Wright

Okaloosa County marriage records are public under Florida Statutes Chapter 119. Anyone can search or request copies. Social Security numbers and certain details are redacted. For confidential filing, ask about the form under Section 119.071.
