How to Apply for a St. Lucie Marriage License
The license fee in St. Lucie County is $86 without a premarital course. Couples who complete an approved course pay $61. Under Florida Statutes Chapter 741, Section 741.0305, the course must be done within one year of applying. It also removes the three-day waiting period for Florida residents. Couples from out of state do not have a waiting period regardless. The license is valid for 60 days under Section 741.041 and can be used anywhere in Florida.
Both people must sign an affidavit as required by Section 741.04. This confirms your ages and other basic information. Part of the fee includes a $2 application charge and $25 for the Domestic Violence Trust Fund per Section 741.01. A ceremony at the clerk office costs $30. Ministers, judges, clerks, and notaries can all perform the ceremony under Section 741.07. After the wedding, the signed license goes back to the St. Lucie County Clerk within 10 days for recording.
