Where Aventura Residents Get Marriage Licenses

Aventura is a city in northeast Miami-Dade County, near the Broward County line. The city does not issue its own marriage licenses. The Miami-Dade County Clerk of Court handles all license applications. The main clerk office is at Overtown Transit Village South, 601 NW 1 Court, Suite 1900, Miami, FL 33136. Phone: (786) 469-2400.

Aventura sits in the northeast part of Miami-Dade. While the downtown clerk office is not too far, Miami-Dade operates six district courts. A north Miami-Dade location may be closer to Aventura. Check the clerk website for the best option.

Both partners must show up at the same time. Valid photo ID is required. The clerk takes driver licenses, passports, military IDs, state IDs, alien registration cards, and naturalization certificates. U.S. citizens also need a Social Security number. If either person was previously married, the date of that marriage's end is required.

Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Walk-ins are accepted. Appointments are available online and can cut your wait time.

Aventura Marriage License Fees

A marriage license costs $86 in Miami-Dade County. Completing a premarital course reduces it to $61. Florida Statute 741.0305 requires the course to come from an approved provider and be done within 12 months of applying. The course also waives the three-day waiting period.

A ceremony by the clerk is $30. The office takes cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. No personal checks. Duplicate licenses are $30. Amendments need a court order plus $30.

Certified copies cost $9 for the first, $7 for each additional. Searches across multiple years are $2 per year if the marriage date is unknown.

Marriage License Process for Aventura Residents

Here are the steps:

  • Fill out the online pre-application on the clerk website
  • Both people go to any Miami-Dade clerk office with valid photo ID
  • U.S. citizens provide Social Security numbers
  • Pay $86 (or $61 with premarital course proof)
  • Florida residents wait three days unless they took the course
