Where Country Club Residents Apply for Marriage Licenses
Country Club is a census-designated place in northwest Miami-Dade County. It does not have its own marriage license office. The Miami-Dade County Clerk of Court handles all marriage licenses for Country Club and the rest of the county. The main office is at Overtown Transit Village South, 601 NW 1 Court, Suite 1900, Miami, FL 33136. Call (786) 469-2400.
There are six district court locations in Miami-Dade. Country Club residents should check which one is nearest. Any of them can process a marriage license application. You do not have to go to the main office downtown.
Both partners must appear at the clerk office in person at the same time. Each person needs a valid photo ID. Driver licenses from any state, passports, military IDs, state identification cards, alien registration cards, and naturalization certificates all work. U.S. citizens need to provide a Social Security number as well. If either person has been married before, the date of the previous marriage's end is required.
The clerk office is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Walk-ins are taken. Appointments are available on the clerk website and can help avoid long waits.
Country Club Area Marriage License Fees
Marriage licenses cost $86 in Miami-Dade County. A premarital preparation course brings the fee down to $61. Under Florida Statute 741.0305, the course needs to be from a registered provider and finished within 12 months of your application. It also waives the three-day waiting period.
A ceremony by the clerk costs $30. They accept cash and major credit cards. Personal checks are not accepted. Duplicate licenses are $30 each, and amendments require a court order plus a $30 fee.
Certified copies of a marriage record cost $9 for the first copy, $7 for each additional. When the clerk searches multiple years to find a record, the charge is $2 per year.
Search Country Club Marriage Records Online
The Miami-Dade Online Marriage License Bureau provides free searches. Records go back to 1971. Search by name or license number to find both parties and the marriage date. Available around the clock.
Records older than 1971 are not in the online system. Contact the clerk office at (786) 469-2400 for help. Records before June 6, 1927 exist only at the county level since Florida did not collect marriage data statewide before then.
State records from 1927 forward come from the Florida Department of Health. A state certified copy is $5 for the first and $4 for more. VitalChek offers an online option at $15 plus $7 processing. For Country Club marriages, the county is usually faster and cheaper.
Getting Married in Country Club
The steps for Country Club residents:
- Complete the pre-application form on the Miami-Dade clerk website
- Visit any clerk location with your partner and bring photo ID
- Provide Social Security numbers (U.S. citizens)
- Pay $86 or $61 with premarital course proof
- Florida residents wait three days unless they completed the course
- The license is valid for 60 days across all of Florida
Non-Florida residents have no waiting period at all. Florida residents skip the wait by finishing an approved premarital course within one year of applying.
Florida Statute 741.07 allows ordained ministers, judges, clerks of court, deputy clerks, and Florida notary publics to officiate. Witnesses are not legally required, but they can be useful. The officiant must sign and return the license within 10 days of the ceremony. The clerk records it and sends the information to the state Bureau of Vital Statistics. That process takes about 60 days.
