Coral Gables Marriage Records Quick Facts
Getting a Marriage License in Coral Gables
Coral Gables is a city in Miami-Dade County. The city itself does not issue marriage licenses. That falls to the Miami-Dade County Clerk of Court. The main office is at Overtown Transit Village South, 601 NW 1 Court, Suite 1900, Miami, FL 33136. Phone: (786) 469-2400.
Coral Gables is close to downtown Miami, so the main clerk office is not far away. Still, Miami-Dade has six district court locations across the county. Any of them can process marriage license applications. Pick whichever location fits your schedule best.
Both parties appear at the clerk office together. Valid photo ID is a must for both. Accepted forms include driver licenses from any state, passports, military IDs, state IDs, alien registration cards, and naturalization certificates. U.S. citizens also need their Social Security number. If you were married before, bring the date of when that marriage ended.
Office hours run Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Walk-ins work fine. Online appointments are also available and tend to reduce wait time.
Coral Gables Marriage License Fees
A marriage license costs $86. Completing an approved premarital course lowers the fee to $61. Under Florida Statute 741.0305, the course has to be from a registered provider and finished within a year of applying. The course also waives the three-day waiting period for Florida residents.
Clerk-performed ceremonies are $30. They accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. No personal checks. A duplicate license is $30. Any changes to a filed license need a court order plus $30.
Certified copies cost $9 for the first one and $7 for each extra. If the clerk has to search through multiple years, it costs $2 per year.
Search Coral Gables Marriage Records Online
Use the Miami-Dade Online Marriage License Bureau to search for free. The database includes records from 1971 to now. Enter a name or license number. Results display both spouse names and the marriage date. The system is available 24/7.
Records before 1971 are not in the online system. Contact the clerk by phone at (786) 469-2400 for older records. Marriages before June 6, 1927 exist only at the county level because the state began collecting marriage data on that date.
The Florida Department of Health keeps state marriage records from 1927 forward. State copies are $5 for the first and $4 additional. VitalChek charges $15 plus $7. For Coral Gables marriages, the county is faster and cheaper.
